Hi, let's try this again! For this challenge your should be colorful with a medium to large portion of the icon covered in black (or very dark values). Please see the inspiration icons for various ways of achieving this, if you have any questions let me know in the comments.
Note: I will not be checking to see if icons have the exact html color black/00000, it's only the appearance of the effect that matters.

SPOILERS RULE UPDATE:

You can use images from season eleven of the main characters if the images do not contain specific spoilers of any season eleven episodes.
A spoiler in this case will include a new/ returning character revealed in the specific episode, a plot point or quote to be revealed in the episode (like if a main character is shown with a Dalek or with Gallifrey) in the background. Spoilers for this comm, are things which would not be known to people who haven't watched the episodes.
Guest star images are considered spoilers.
If this community is still active, once new episodes begin, episode screen caps will be considered spoilers and are not allowed until at least two weeks after the episode first aired.

all icons in solid black, or are black textures okay too? You know, the ones where's some kind of pattern visible?

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but textures could be shown on part of the icon as long as there is a noticeable 'blackout' area on the icon where it looks like all the lights are off (or there is heavy shadow).
If you mean a texture like this

then that would be okay. The third one in the post, of Rose, has subtle textures on it. :)
